Matt and I recently lost our minds and agreed to run the Boulder Backroads marathon relay. Matt and his buddies formed a guys' team; I joined a girls'. Only Matt trained. I kept thinking that, if I ignored it, it would go away...just like a pimple. It didn't. So, the day came, and we were forced to fulfill our obligation to our teams, dutifully running our 10k portion or the marathon.
And...it was a blast! I highly recommend it, mostly because of the fantastic people-watching opportunities. We saw people throwing up, talking to themselves, talking on the phone even (impressive!). I saw a girl running without a bra (26 miles of bouncing boobs....ouch) and a guy running in a toupee (Really, dude? You wouldn't be more comfy running 26 miles without that thing?) Yep, definitely some great people-watching at a marathon. And, despite our lack of focus on the actual running, we didn't do too badly; the girls' team came in 24th of 44 teams, and the boys came in 27th. Yay us!
Disclaimer: These pics were taken with my iphone (so please don't judge too harshly), and I couldn't tell that Andrew's eyes were closed. Whoops. Sorry, Andrew.
