First family I ever shot...

...one year later.  Sheesh, these kids have gotten big!

Last year:

This year:

Finally, if, like me, you've driven by Colorado's Stonehenge dozens of times always saying, "We really should check that out someday," you really should check it out!  It's pretty amazing.  Water features turn on at 8am (and you'll have the place to yourself for at least an hour!).

Sean & Amy are married!

This may be the nicest couple with the nicest families that I've ever met.  Matt and I were approached by no less than a half dozen of them (including the bride) to ensure that we got food, cake, even drinks!  Though we declined (my motto is "Don't Drink and Shoot"), I was so touched.  Seriously, who even thinks about the help on their wedding day???  I couldn't even tell you if my photographer ate at my wedding.  (Very sorry about that Shawn!  I really hope you got a piece of cake at least.)

Congratulations Sean and Amy!  You guys are so awesome.

By the way, this wedding was at a tree farm in Fort Collins.  How neat is that?!?  If you're looking for a place to get married, click here for more info.

You've not seen nothing like the mighty Quinn

I'm no expert, but this is a SUPER cute kid.  Congratulations Liz and AJ

And, thanks, Quinn, for being my guinea pig.  I think I might be getting the hang of this baby portrait thing.

Konkle Family

*Not sure where this blog entry disappeared to, but I just found it today.  It's three months delayed, but I thought I'd post it anyhow.  (So, when I say, "Last week," I really mean this past April!)

Last week was my first trip to Red Rocks (ridiculous, I know). Thank you Konkle Family for taking me (or, is it "bringing" me?  Eleven months off from teaching, and I'm grammar challenged...uh oh).  Anyhow, it was a gorgeous day at a beautiful place.  I had so much fun with Joy, Brian, and their fantastic kids!

If only Sir Edward Elgar had been there...

...to hear his song played by a string quartet at the Salk Institute.  "Pomp and Circumstance" was played over the loudspeakers in the basketball arena at my graduation, to give you a comparison.  (To be fair, it is a state-of-the-art arena.)  Congratulations to my little sister, now the proud owner of an M.Arch.!

Cali Road Trip!

The Pacific Coast Highway won't get you anywhere quickly, but it sure is beautiful.  We came, we saw, we loved.

The Fab Four
 Still loving the drive.

Two hours in, we're a tad stir crazy.
Banksy was here!  Wow.
Thought we were about to witness a shrimp massacre.  Thankfully, it turns out to be the eel's toothbrush.
Things I learned on the trip:
  • Staying in a hotel next door to a Nestle Toll House cookie store is a BAD idea (3 days = a minimum of 4 trips to the cookies).
  • Don’t judge an Indian restaurant by its sign (but do skip the Indian ice cream no matter what).
  • It would take 18 of Gaby and me combined to equal the weight of one rhinoceros.
  • Tahoe is chilly in the summer. Who knew? I did NOT bring appropriate clothing.
  • Starbucks charges double when it’s located inside a casino. (Evidently, their rent at Harrah’s is $50,000/month! That’s a LOT of coffee.)
